without fail I forward every one of your articles to my husband haha. We decided long ago to raise our baby son as “offline” as possible as he grows up and your writing reminds us why we’re doing it! Thank you :)
Great article! I know a lot of your focus is on technology, but do your children attend a non-public school?
I think back to my childhood and a lot of the fun and autonomy was crushed in public school environments. We didn't have any tech during the day (at that point.) But, traditional schooling really makes childhood a chore that you can't wait to become an adult to escape.
Just my thoughts, hope they aren't too off subject.
Hi Nicole. Thanks for your question. My kids do attend public schools here in Ontario, Canada, where tech creep is a growing problem, though I don't think it's nearly as bad as in the USA. I'm still frustrated by it on a daily basis, and try to push back against it as much as I can with teachers and principals, but that's also why I'm so determined to limit it at home in the off-hours.
Thanks for sharing this interesting article. May I add my own point of view?
"Childhood teaches adults to PLAY our way in the world ."
"Childhood teaches adult to HAVE FUN."
The purpose of children is to be role models and reminders for adults. I want to spend my day being driven by open curiosity and wonder!
Thanks for allowing me to add my perspective

Wonderful article! I love your simple message at the very end -- made me laugh! You provide inspiring encouragement -- thank you.
I’m going to assign this topic for my middle schoolers to write about. Thank you for the inspiration.
That's awesome!
