That is what my parents always called them. I looked it up -On farms, they were helpful in keeping animals outside while still being open enough to allow fresh air indoors. Our outhouse is up the hill so before the trees grew up, you could see over the lake.
I grew up with my family having a “camp”. We had to take a boat to access it and it was idyllic for a kid. Thanks for bringing back some of those memories.
Nicer than my cottage in the woods which is 650 sq ft. I wish I had an all pine interior and a wood stove, not that I'm really complaining considering I escaped the city, and have had bears in my yard, and I live a 5 minute drive from Salmon streams.
